Steve earned his reputation as a seasoned executive building winning teams, driving accelerated growth, developing strong customer relationships and creating shareholder value.

In 2005, Steve was chosen from more than 60 Silicon Valley entrepreneurs to become the first Entrepreneur-in-Residence for NICTA (National Information Communications Technology Australia), Australia’s leading center for applied IT research. His role as EiR resulted in the creation of Open Kernel Labs. As founder and CEO, OK Labs emerged as the leading provider of mobile virtualization software, deployed on more than 1.5 billion devices, leading to its successful acquisition by General Dynamics in 2012.

As an early employee of CA Technologies, Steve helped grow revenues from $30M to more than $1.2B over 6 years. Following, Steve co-founded Relavis Corporation, a leading publisher of relational database tools used to accelerate application design, development and implementation (acquired by GROUP Technologies AG). Next, Steve joined the executive leadership team at Mobius Management Systems, a venture-backed startup, where he was responsible for sales and marketing. From a $3M consulting services provider, the company transformed to a NASDAQ listed software company valued at more than $100M.

As a senior executive with Clear Communications Corporation, a supplier of multi-vendor optical broadband and digital transport operational support systems, Steve led the effort to build a $25 million business with global reach (acquired by H-P). Later, Steve created, a pioneer in e-business infrastructure and consumer client software for electronic billing.

Steve launched z2m4 Advisors, a boutique management consulting company for venture capital investors and their portfolio companies, applying his experience growing established businesses, launching new companies and transforming struggling ventures into viable operations.

Steve is a frequent guest lecturer and moderator at numerous industry forums and conferences. He currently sits on the advisory board for the Northwestern University Center for Innovation, the board of the Illinois Technology Association Big Idea Forum and is a Catalyst Partner with TechNexus, a venture collaborative that has grown 175 new startups that collectively raised more than $200M valued today at more than $1B and employing 1,000+ people.

Steve received his Bachelors of Science degree from Miami University’s School of Business Administration with a major in Marketing and concentration in Computer Science.
